All machined parts are cleaned and tribofinished before assembly or packaging for delivery. The purpose of cleaning is to remove contaminants from the component surface, such as metal chips, abrasives, oil, and other residues. The cleanliness of parts after processing directly affects assembly quality and the service life of machinery and finished products.
Cleaning offers several key advantages.
It helps improve surface condition by removing rough dirt, grit, and other particles from metal surfaces. If left in place, these contaminants may increase tool wear during later production steps and result in a rougher surface.
It helps prevent corrosion by removing acidic, alkaline, or other corrosive substances that may remain on the surface of metal parts.
It removes grease, lubricating oils, and coolants left from metalworking processes, helping avoid issues during later surface preparation, coating, or painting.
It also improves product accuracy and quality by removing surface dirt and grit from the parts.

For precision machined parts, four common cleaning methods include vibration cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, spray washing, and tribofinishing.
Parts to be cleaned are placed in the cleaning basket or rack of a vibrating washer and immersed in cleaning liquid. The machine’s vibration simulates manual rinsing, while the chemical action of the cleaning solution helps remove oil stains.
Ultrasonic cleaning uses high-frequency sound waves to create tiny bubbles that implode when they contact the part surface, gently removing debris. It is especially effective for removing tightly adhered contaminants from complex parts with blind holes, cracks, and recessed areas.
Spray washing applies cleaning fluid at a controlled pressure and temperature onto the surface of parts to remove oil stains. It is especially effective for parts with internal threads, blind holes, and cross holes, as high-pressure spray can mechanically flush debris from holes and hard-to-reach areas.
Tribofinishing is a friction-based surface treatment process. This material-to-material finishing method uses vibration to polish custom machined mechanical parts. Also known as chemical-mechanical polishing, vibroabrasion, tumbling, or vibratory finishing, tribofinishing is used to modify the surface finish and edges of metal parts.
During the process, parts are immersed in an abrasive mixture, commonly called media, which is moved in a vibratory, oscillating, or rotary motion inside a tank. We mainly use ceramic media to polish and deburr metal and plastic components.
